Meet Nicholas Kirkwood At Saks

Wanna meet Nicholas Kirkwood and preview his Spring 2012 collection at Saks in New York City tomorrow? Why not? Sounds fun.

Details: Thursday. Feb. 9 from 6-7:30pm.

You can ask him to confirm if he had me in mind when he created these rickrack and glitter stilettos. (Because it seems obvious to me that he did.)
$825, Nicholas Kirwood, Modaoperandi.com

Reiss Has Really Good Stuff On Sale

WTF? Why don't I shop at Reiss more often? (It's a British high street that feels like if French Connection  went to a semester or two of grad school, and I mean that so lovingly because I love French Connection. Oh, and Reiss has a REALLY habit-forming handbag selection.) Being way better about shopping at Reiss and using fewer water bottles. There. Those are my perfectly reasonable resolutions for 2012. And now's a perfect time to start. I mean, LOOK at this excellent embellished dress on SUPER sale:

$288, Reiss
This dress vaaaaaaguely reminds me of that epic Alexander McQueen dress Drew Barrymore wore last year. Like, in a perfectly acceptable watered-down-for-my-affordability way.

The Taryn playsuit is sold out online -- BLAST AND DAMN! -- but it's worth looking for in the store. SO Florence Welch.

$51, Reiss
I've been on a serious sheer blouse binge lately, and Reiss' polka dot sheer blouse is PERFECT, because polka dots are WAY in, and I don't like paying more than $51 for anything, really. I mean, who does?
$120, Reiss
$120, Reiss

My name is Tamar, and I approve of these asymmetrical teal platform heels.

$133, Reiss
The PERFECT pointy toe! THE PERFECT, SOPHISTICATED shade of silver.

$255, Reiss
This little shoulder bag is suede and leather, and those aren't even my favorite things about it; Observe the little metal barbell hardware, and then note that the bag is called "Reiss Brewer." Straight from "The Official Preppy Handbook," 2012 edition.

Charlotte Russe Has Miu Miu "Inspired" Glitter Booties

You guys. I don't know. I don't know why. I don't know how. I don't know what possessed me. I think it was the guilt of shallowly, sadly coveting not my neighbor's wife's designer shoes. Her Miu Miu glitter booties. Specifically her glitter booties. I have anguished over my inner desires. And then I snapped. The stress holding back the trestles supporting the dam of my self-restraint broke open like so many dried out twigs ready to ignite. And I bought these Charlotte Russe Miu Miu "INSPIRED" glitter booties. The cheap, five-dollar whore version of the untouchable painted ladies. And what's worse? I BOGO'ed and got the second pair for $15.50. And what's worse than that? I used a promo code (SCREAM11) and got $5.
Can you spot the fakes? Of course you can.

Do I expect anyone to mistake my Charlotte Russe glitter booties for the real-deal Miu Mius? No, of course not. Did spending $59.99 for two knockoffs feel good? Yes, of course.
My shame knows no depth. My bottom is bottomless.

PS: Before you go pointing the finger, Steve Madden's got glitter boot knockoffs
and Topshop does too. Which doesn't, of course, make it right. I'm just rationalizing my guilt by widening my net of shame and blame.

$160, Topshop

($73.18, Asos.com)
These glittery turquoise Maryjane stilettos are no Miu Miu glitter booties, but they're also not $900. Also, hat tip to the little peekaboo snakeskin print on the sole.

+ How to wear them: Colorblock with an orange or purple silky blouse, grey or black skinny jeans or a black maxi skirt.

Miu Miu's Glitter Ankle Boots Are The Most Important Shoes Ever

Seriously, when was the last time a shoe was as crucial as Miu Miu's glitter ankle booties and criss-cross ankle boots? How can ONE shoe be SO important? They're stunning and stuntin'. Elton John-legit with a sickness. Marc Bolan-bonkers.Yellow glitter AND mint green suede? WHO COMES UP WITH THIS SHIT? Miu Miu, that's who!

Yes, I'm aware that these Miu Mius are becoming as ubiquitous as Lady Gaga or iPads, but I still DGAF.I'm no fashion reverse-snob contrarian. I don't care if every woman in this entire country turned into a redundant army of Miu Miu-shoe-wearing sherpas. I'd slip them on and catch a grenade for them.

Of course, at almost $900, I'm either gonna have to develop kleptomania and a pair of steely balls or just commit to distant admiration.

PS: Sorry for going AWOL! I was in LA for the VMAs, where I mainlined Starbucks and didn't leave LA Live for a WHOLE WEEK. Tears!
